Adrenal Extract

Adrenal extract is derived from the adrenal glands of calves.  Its therapeutic effects are believed to accrue from its content of hormones that are naturally present in the adrenal glands.

Adrenal Extract is used for these conditions:

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS):

Adrenal extract may alleviate the fatigue associated with chronic fatigue syndrome.  This claim is based on the speculation of some researchers that the underlying cause of chronic fatigue syndrome may be impairment of adrenal gland function.

Morning Sickness:

High-dose oral adrenal extract has been shown in studies conducted during the 1930s to halt nausea and vomiting (morning sickness) in pregnant women after three to four days in up to 85% of women who suffer from morning sickness.

Stress:

Adrenal extract supports the ability of the adrenal glands to produce the various hormones that help the body to deal with stress.  It may also improve the body’s ability to counteract the toxic effects of excessive stress.

Dosage:

100 - 1,000 mg per day.

When used for the treatment of morning sickness, doses in the range of 500 – 1,000 mg per day are used.
