Aged Garlic Extract

Aged garlic extract is a modified form of supplemental garlic.  It exerts many similar therapeutic effects as regular garlic except that it does not kill or inhibit detrimental microorganisms.  Many people prefer aged garlic extract over regular garlic products because it is odourless.

The manufacturing process for aged garlic extracts involves the slicing of raw garlic and placing it in an extracting solution (of diluted ethanol) in large stainless steel tanks, where it is naturally cold-aged for up to 20 months without using heat.  This is followed by filtration and concentration of the extract.

Aged Garlic Extract is used for the treatment of these conditons:

Allergies:

Aged garlic extract has been demonstrated in trials to inhibit the release of histamine as potently as some pharmaceutical drugs used for the treatment of allergies.

Alzheimer’s Disease:

Animal and laboratory studies have shown that aged garlic extract reduces the generation of amyloid-beta protein and inhibits the ability of amyloid-beta protein to kill brain cells.  Amyloid-beta protein is responsible for much of the damage associated with Alzheimer’s disease.

Anti-Aging & Life Extension:

Aged garlic extract inhibits some aspects of the aging process.  For example, aged garlic extract inhibits the shrinkage (atrophy) of the frontal lobe of the brain that occurs in tandem with the progression of the aging process.  Aged garlic extract has also been demonstrated to increase the life span of animals.

Blood Lipids:

Aged garlic extract has been found to lower total serum cholesterol levels by approximately 7% and to inhibit the oxidation of LDL cholesterol (“bad” cholesterol).  It also lowers LDL cholesterol levels by approximately 4%.

Hypertension

Aged garlic extract has been demonstrated to lower blood pressure in hypertension patients.

In one well-conducted clinical trial, hypertension patients who received 7,200 mg of aged garlic extract per day for four months experienced a 5.5% reduction in systolic blood pressure and a modest reduction in diastolic blood pressure.

Intelligence:

Studies conducted on mice have demonstrated the ability of aged garlic extract to improve learning ability, memory acquisition and memory retention.

PMS:
(Pre-Menstrual Syndrome)

Some Russian doctors have observed that many of the symptoms of PMS are alleviated with the use of aged garlic extract.

Dosage:

2,200 - 4,400 mg per day (using aged garlic extract capsules or tablets).

2 - 4 ml per day (using aged garlic extract liquid).
