Andrographis
Andrographis (Andrographis paniculata) is an Indian herb commonly used in Ayurvedic medicine.
Andrographis is used for the treatment of these conditons:
Common Cold:
Andrographis helps to prevent the common cold.
In a recent clinical study school children receiving either a standardized extract of Andrographis or a placebo compound were evaluated on a weekly basis. At the end of the first month no effects were observed. After three months, 30% of students receiving Andrographis had experienced at least one bout of the common cold, while 62% of the students receiving a placebo compound had experienced a bout of the common cold.
The protective effects of Andrographis against the common cold do not occur until two to three months after commencing daily Andrographis use.
Liver Support:
Andrographis helps to protect the liver from the damage inflicted by many toxins (for example, carbon tetrachloride and paracetamol).
Sinusitis:
A clinical study found that five days of treatment with andrographis reduced eye and nasal symptoms, headaches, and general malaise in sinusitis patients.
Dosage:
1,000 - 2,000 mg per day.
