Black Walnut
Black walnut (Juglans nigra) is a species of Walnut that is used as a herb rather than as a food.
Black walnut is used for the treatment of these conditons:
Candida (thrush):
Black walnut is claimed to exert anti-fungal activity against Candida albicans, the toxic yeast that causes thrush. This aspect of black walnut has not yet been tested in scientific studies.
Diarrhea:
Black walnut contains several polyphenol compounds that are likely to prevent and treat diarrhea. This aspect of black walnut has not yet been tested in scientific studies.
Intestinal Parasites:
Black walnut is prescribed by many naturopaths for the elimination of some types of intestinal parasites (including tapeworms) from the body.
Black walnut’s anti-parasite effects have not yet been tested in clinical studies.
Dosage:
2,000 - 3,000 mg per day (using black walnut hulls capsules).
4 - 6 ml per day (using black walnut hulls 1:2 fluid extract or tincture).
