About Our Niacin
Niacin is one of the nutrient molecules that is necessary for the proper function of the enzyme called mono-amine oxidase (MAO). MAO, among its many duties, detoxifies or "cleans" the brain of the "brain toxic" by-products of the metabolism of the essential amino acid, tryptophan. These by-products are chemical cousins of hallucinogens like LSD, which are known to interfere with some of the brain's normal healthy functions, including affects, mood and memory.
